How to fix a broken promise

Updated: Aug 7, 2019

Last August, I promised I would be hosting a giveaway for one of my Secret Kinks necklaces. Life got in the way, and unfortunately, I didn’t follow through.

I was so embarrassed and ashamed.

Instead of forgiving myself and getting the giveaway up and running ASAP, I fell into a rut.

I didn’t send out my weekly newsletters or post much to social media. I didn’t connect with you, my lovely community.

Bailing on those responsibilities made me feel even more embarrassment and shame.

I was caught in a circle of freak out!

What did I do to fix it?

I forgave myself.

It took me waaay longer than I’d like to admit to show myself compassion for being human.

But guess what?!

We’re all human here! We’re all allowed to screw up every now and then.

What matters is how we handle our screw ups.

And it takes A LOT of courage to be as empathetic with yourself as you would be with someone else.

If it were my best friend who had broken a promise to someone else, I would have told her...

"Don't be so hard on yourself. Take a breath, give yourself permission to be human, apologize, and do what you promised you’d do as soon as possible. And do your damnedest not to let it happen again."

So that's what I decided to tell myself. And I made an affirmation card that I invite you to download as a reminder for yourself if you're ever in a similar situation.

*Deep breath* I am human. I am allowed to make mistakes. My mistakes do not define me.

Friends, I am so sorry for bailing on my promise to host an August giveaway.

I will absolutely make it up to you when I have the bandwidth to do so.

XXXO,

Kallissa Kristine

P.S. Here's what I've got in the works...

  • A bigger, better giveaway

  • A sexy new website

  • Moving to a new home (more about this next week!)
